Fire incident at shop in PU market: Fact finding committee constituted

Chandigarh, August 29, 2018: In view of fire incident at shop in Panjab University market on Tuesday, Col.G.S.Chadha (Retd.), Registrar, Sh.Vikram Nayyar, Finance and Development Officer and Sh.Ashwani Kaul, Chief of University Security visited the site for first hand assessment of the situation. A fact finding committee has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Institute of Forensic Science & Criminology (U.I.E.A.S.T.) who will be submitting a report within 7 days. The Registrar has also issued orders regarding creating a fire tender lane in the market. Necessary instructions have been issued for adhering to fire safety norms. The fact finding committee would examine and take corrective actions accordingly. Subsequent to this, the Registrar has also constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. Y.P.Verma, Electrical Wing, UIET and Construction Wing Officials to assess the condition of wiring of old buildings.
