Financial Literacy and Stitching Workshop Organised by Enactus Team of Panjab University in Mandi Gobindgarh
Chandigarh, February 16, 2019: A workshop on “Financial Literacy and Stiching Skills” was organized today at Village Dadheri, Mandi Gobindgarh by Enactus team of Panjab University in collaboration with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Bbukkal, a Women's Clothing Store in Mandi Gobindgarh. Enactus team is working on Project Uday which works along the lines of reducing plastic as it has become a menace to humanity because a lot of it is non-biodegradable. The project also aims to generate employment opportunities for the underprivileged ladies of MandiGobindgarh. For the same, the team has designed cloth bags made from excess fabric which is otherwise discarded and are being stitched by these skilled yet unemployed females. The team organised a financial literacy and stitching workshop for these females today at village Dadheri to make them aware about finances and profits and also stiching skills required for the project. Dr. Monika Aggarwal, SEBI financial education resource person headed the financial literacy workshop and Mrs. Savita headed the stiching workshop. Mrs. Gagan from Bbukkal also gave useful tips to the ladies for innovative designs of bags. About 65 people including the ladies of the community, villagers and students participated in the workshop. The students are very enthusiastic about this venture and look forward to making it a huge success in near future, conveyed Prof. SeemaKapoor, Faculty Advisor of Enactus team.
