Fight me politically, don’t try to intimidate officials, Capt Sandhu tells Majithia
Dakha, October 7, 2019: Congress candidate from Dakha Capt Sandeep Singh Sandhu today asked the Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia to fight him politically and not try to intimidate police officers and other government officials. Addressing a series of public meetings in different villages of the constituency here today, Capt Sandhu condemned Majithia for naming police officials and threatening them. “If you have started targeting the SHO level officials that means you have realised that you have already lost the political battle”, he told Majithia. The Congress candidate said that the Akalis have realised that they were no more in the race and were reconciled to their fate of coming distant third in the elections like they did during the Lok Sabha polls from Dakha assembly segment. “Now they are trying to find the excuse much before the elections so that they can blame the police and other officials for their defeat that is stating them on their face”, he said. Capt Sandhu said, people have neither forgotten the sacrilege of the Holy Guru Granth Sahib nor the deaths of hundreds of youth due to the drugs for both of which the Akalis are responsible. “I wonder with what face they are coming to people for votes”, he asked while appealing them to ensure that the Akalis are taught a lesson for their various sins of omission and commission. The Congress candidate said, he did not believe in negative campaigning. “Since the Akalis have started resorting to their age old tactics or arm twisting and intimidating the officials, I wanted to make it clear to them that this is not acceptable and this will no more be tolerate”, he warned. He said, his primary agenda and priority will be development of the area as it had been completely ignored so far. He reiterated that setting up of SDM office and a government degree college in Dakha will be his top most priorities.
