A meeting of office-bearers of FICO Ludhiana being held on Friday to discuss about the 5% hike in Electricity Duty.

Ludhiana, May 23, 2015: Office-bearers meeting of Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisations (FICO) Ludhiana on Friday held under the Chairmanship of Mr K.K Seth Chairman FICO regarding 5% increased electricity duty by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).
FICO strongly opposed increase in 5% Electricity Duty. It observed that instead of this hike it should have been made VATable because electricity is raw material of industry.
The meeting urged that the government should rollback electricity duty because now Punjab becomes the costliest electricity state in India.
It was urged that the government should focus on improving infrastructure as it is very poor, sometimes one tripping takes 7 to 8 hours to reinstate, resulting to which huge losses are rendered to the Industry as well as to PSPCL.
The meeting felt that there is no octroi in Punjab but it is there on electricity. It should also be withdrawn.
Mr Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO & Chairman PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr Harpal Singh Bhamber President Janta Nagar Small Scale Manufacturers Association, Mr Rajeev Jain Secretary FICO & General Secretary UCPMA & Mr Satnam Singh Makkar President Dhandari Industrial Welfare Association were among those present.
