Ferozepur, October 3, 2015: An Army recruitment rally was conducted today at local Jyoti Stadium in Ferozepur Cantonment. Brig.J S Samyal, Deputy Director, General Recruiting (Punjab and J&K) while addressing the media persons said that this is the first time that online registration system is being used for the recruitment in army. He said that the online registration system will not only keep the touts away from the recruitment but will also help the recruitment offices plan recruitment rallies in a better way in the near future.
Brig.J S Samyal said that for this rally which will be conducted from 3-13 October, 2015, around 25,411 candidates have got themselves registered. “Today, around 3500 candidates from Ferozepur District will try to prove their mettle to secure a job in the Indian Army”, said Brig. Samyal.
Brig. Samyal said that the candidates will be screened for their physical fitness, medical examination and documentation to check their eligibility to join the Indian Army and only the successful candidates will undergo the common entrance test on 18th October and 29th November for medical review fit candidates.  “Stringent measures are being adopted while screening of the documents and to prevent the usage of drugs among youths” said Brig.Samyal
Meanwhile, few candidates were reportedly sent back by army officials since their particulars were not matched with the online system. A candidate from Ferozepur while pleading anonymity said that his several friends were sent back due to some problem in online registration.
It is worth mentioning here that last year the military authorities had unearthed a fake certificate scam in which thirty eight youths who were selected as sepoys were found to have fudged their date of birth for recruitment in the army. These youths had cleared the screening test and physical fitness test during the recruitment rally held in Ferozepur in January 2014 and were ready for their training at various centres. All of them were however caught during the scrutiny of their testimonials when it was discovered that they had already cleared the matriculation exam conducted by the Punjab School Education Board but to conceal their date of birth and to clear the age criteria, they had submitted fake certificates issued by Allahabad based institute.
