Tension prevails after granth of Ramayan along with Palki found burnt in a temple at Samrala

Khanna, November 19, 2015: Tension prevailed in Samrala after a granth of Ramayan along with Palki was found burnt in Durga Mandir Samrala in the day time. After this news spread in the town a number of persons gathered in the main chowk and blocked traffic for about half an hour. After the opening of traffic blockade the protesters also marched in the town and warned that the city will observe bandh on Saturday if the alleged persons responsible for the sacrilege of Ramayan are not arrested immediately.

As per information the priest of the Mandir Baba Jag Nath was taking his meal in his room and some other Sewadar were busy in their routine works. In the mean time a Sewadar noticed smoke from the room of Ramayan and informed the Priest. When the priest reached along with Sewadars they found the holy Granth of Ramayan and Palki totally burnt in the fire. After this news spread a number of persons led by Shiv Sena Leader Raman Wadera and Samrala Vikas Manch President Paramjit Singh Dhillon, Congress MLA Samrala Amrik Singh Dhillon and Former MLA Jagjivan Singh Khirnia reached in the main chowk and the gathering resorted to traffic blockade. In the mean time   a police party also reached on the spot. Later the protesters alleged that the Granth was burnt by some miscreants and demanded their arrest. Later they resorted to traffic blockade and also marched in the City. Later the protesters opened the traffic blockade and warned that if the alleged culprits responsible are not arrested immediately then they will observe bandh in the City on Saturday.

In the mean time after information senior officials of Police District Khanna  reached on the spot and inspected .However when DIG Ludhiana Range SK Kalia was contacted in this regard he dismissed the allegation of sacrilege of Ramayan by any one and said that this may happened due to short circuit. He said that as per inspection on the spot the police officials had informed him that this happened due to short circuit as per information from priest and other present persons at the time of happening of fire incident. He also said that they are enquiring the matter and appealed the public to maintain peace in the City.
