Extension and training programme for livestock breeders/farmers

Chandigarh, August 29, 2013: To uplift the living standard of livestock breeders/farmers, the  Punjab Government  has initiated an Animal Husbandry Extension and Training Programme in the state.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the punjab government said that the main objective of the scheme was to provide opportunities to un-employed educated youth for self employment in rural areas. He further said that this would help to upgrade the standard of living by increasing their income.

He further said that camps, exhibitions were being organised and advertisements through local newspapers were also being published by the animal husbandry department Punjab to make the public aware of preventive measures and first aid treatment to animals.

He further said that  this training was  also imparted to officers in the field of management and for the implementation of various schemes of the department from time to time. Extension and training programmes would be implemented through Disease Control Programme Campaign, Awareness campaign in management of animals/birds, training component campaign, Animal welfare camps campaign.

The spokesman further said that for this purpose an outlay of Rs. 1.30 crore is provided in the Annual Plan 2013-14.
