Dharamsala, September 5, 2013: The Himachal Police is trying hard to make public comfortable with cops. On this subject Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, Sanjay Kumar said, “We feel that the police personnel should project right behavior with public which will also help in building the image of police.”

He added that to improve behavior of lower rank police officials with public, various orientation programs are being inducted into the police training.

Kumar said,“ Community policing, interaction and support from public can help in controlling crime in a big way.”

DGP, Sanjay Kumar who arrived at Dharamsala on Thursday said that the police in hill state is also focusing community policing to strengthen the police- public interaction.

He said, “The Community Policing Welfare Scheme had not only been instrumental in bridging the gap between the police and the public but also has been able to build its image with the people.”

He said surveillance equipment and cyber cell crime of the state police is being upgraded time to time and the Criminal tracking network is being linked to the national network.

It was his first tour to the district after assuming the office of state police chief.
