Chandigarh, September 15, 2016: A meeting of BKU was held under the chairmanship of S.Bhupinder Singh Mann, Ex MP and National President BKU and Punjab BKU President Baldev Singh Mianpur at Kisan Bhawan Chandigarh today. This important meeting was attended by large number of Kisan Leaders.
S.Bhupinder Singh Mann said that before the elections, the political parties make tall promises in their manifestos to influence and woo voters in its favour. After the elections are over, these political parties simply forget these promises and the voters feel cheated and fooled by these false promises. The election manifesto should be made legally binding on the political parties so that they are held responsible and accountable for the promises made to the citizens while getting their votes. The election manifesto should also contain the timeframe to fulfil the promises and also the roadmap for its implementation. It was decided that BKU will shortly give a memorandum to Election Commission requesting to make the election manifesto legally binding.
