New Delhi, July 2, 2014: Haryana Health Minister, Rao Narender Singh has said that effective steps are being taken by State Government for prevention and treatment of Malaria and Dengue diseases in Haryana.
Rao Narender Singh was speaking at a review meeting of Malaria and Dengue situation in Delhi, UP, Haryana and Rajasthan in New Delhi today. The meeting was presided over by Union Health & Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
Rao Narender Singh said that the cooperation of all village panchayats is being taken for creating awareness among people for combating Malaria and Dengue diseases in the State. Inter-departmental meetings also being convened regularly at State as well as District level to control Vector Borne Diseases.
He said that during the year 2013, total 14,389 malaria positive cases were reported as compared to total 26,819 positive cases in the year 2012 i.e. about 46 per cent decrease was noted. Also, during the current Year, decreasing trend in being reported and upto June, total 1134 malaria positive cases have been reported as compared to total 3321 positive cases in the corresponding period of the year 2013.
Rao Narender Singh said that total 1770 cases of Dengue were reported as compared to 768 cases reported in year 2012. He said that during the current year 2014 upto June, total three confirmed cases of dengue have been reported as compared to four cases reported in the corresponding period of the last year. No death due to dengue has been reported till now. During last five year, most of cases are being reported from Gurgaon and Faridabad districts, he added.
He said that for prevention of Vector Borne Diseases and to stop the breeding of mosquitoes, emphasis is being laid on Source Reduction activities. Breeding of the mosquitoes is being checked in the fresh water collection sources in the houses like coolers, water storage tanks, unused tyres, containers etc. and Anti-Larval activities are being carried out, wherever required. He said that to kill larvae of Aedes/Anopheles/other mosquitoes, Temephos is being provided to manage stored & stagnant water. Besides this, Spray Operations and Fogging Operations are also being conducted in the State, wherever necessary.
