Vigilance nabs ASI in graft case
Chandigarh, November 10, 2014: Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an ASI red handed while receiving bribe of Rs. 5000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the vigilance bureau said that ASI Sulakhan Singh was nabbed on the complaint of Mahinder Singh of village Sangran, district Kapurthala. The spokesman said that during a raid conducted by the electricity department on the house of complainant, an illegal kundi connection was found and penalty of Rs. 10,450 was imposed on him. The Electricity Department has asked the Police Station anti power theft, jalander to take legal action in this regard.
The complainant alleged that ASI Sulakhan Singh was demanding bribe of Rs. 10,000 to dismiss the case and the deal was struck at Rs. 5000.
Acting on the tip off, team of Vigilance Bureau headed by DSP Kulwant Rai of Vigilance Unit Kapurthala laid a trap and ASI Sulakhan Singh was nabbed receiving bribe of Rs. 5000.
