EDUCATION MINISTER'S ATTEMPTS BORNE FRUIT; FINANCE DEPARTMENT TO SHORTLY RELEASE RS.133 CRORE OF PUNJAB SCHOOL EDUCATION BOARD

Chandigarh, January 2, 2018: Punjab Education Minister Mr.Om Parkash Soni's efforts to financially sound the Punjab School Education Board, today borne fruit as the Finance Department has decided to release Rs.133 crore to the Punjab School Education Board shortly. Divulging further, Mr.Soni said that in the meeting with Finance Minister Mr.Manpreet Singh Badal today, this matter has been raised strongly and it was decided that the finance department would release this amount in three installments within three months. Punjab Welfare Minister Mr.Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was also attended the meeting.
He said that the Punjab School Education Board provides new books free of cost to SC/BC students every year and no fee is being charged from the students studying in class X and XII. Financial liabilities of these benefits are born by the welfare department but since several years this amount has not been paid to the Punjab School Education Board, due to which this institution was dealing with financial crunch and struggling to pay salaries to its employees.
