Ferozepur, August 27, 2014: Ferozepur police have busted a gang which was allegedly involved in supplying drugs within the Central Jail of Ferozepur.
Vibhor Sharma, DSP, Ferozepur City told the media persons that police have booked four jail inmates named Bau Ram son of Buta Singh, resident of Village Khalchian, Satpal Singh son of Sher Singh, resident of Bhanbha Haji, Gursevak Singh son of Swarn Singh, resident of Nihal Singh Wala, District Moga, Baljinder Singh,  son of Karnail Singh, resident of Basti Bagicha Singh Wali while Sukhwinder (brother of Baljinder Singh) was operating from outside.
The story started few days back the when the police had nabbed one Sukhbir Singh with few gram heroin from Central Jail Ferozepur. He was deputed to make AADHAR cards of the jail inmates. The jail administration believed that the drugs which was confiscated from him, was brought to deliver the jail inmates
Paramraj Singh Umranangal, IG, Ferozepur/Bathinda range, taking serious cognizance of the reports published in the newspaper, had ordered an enquiry of the matter and had deputed DSP (D), DSP (City) and SHO (City) for the same.
During the Police interrogation, Sukhbir Singh admitted that he is a part of a gang which operates from the Central Jail and supplies drugs to the inmates. Shocked by the information, the police officials stirringly started investigating the matter. Subsequently, the name of Sukhwinder Singh emerged as one of the key players of this racket. Interestingly all the other who were part of this racket were in jail and were convicted under various cases.
The police officials did not deny the involvement of jail staff in this matter and said the investigation is going on and if any staff member found involved in any kind of suspicious activity, will not be spared.
The DSP also revealed that the payment for supplying these drugs in the jail was made by bank transactions in the bank account of their relatives. The police after rinsing out their bank accounts, found that lakhs of rupees were deposited in the bank account of the relatives of the offenders.
