Progressive Punjab Live Stock Expo-2015 in Sri Mukatsar Sahib from January 8 to 13

Gulzar Singh Ranike, Animal Husbandry Minister, Punjab, on Wednesday presided over a meeting with the senior officers of the department at Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, November 26, 2014: The Progressive Punjab Live stock Expo-2015 which would be organised from January 8 to 13at Sri Mukatsar Sahib next year would be a National event.  This live stock fair would be organised on professional lines with the cooperation of PHD chamber of commerce and industries. It was disclosed by Gulzar Singh Ranike, Animal Husbandry Minister, Punjab, in a press communiqué.
The Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike today presided over a meeting with the senior officers of the department and directed them to organise rapid awareness campaign in order to encourage and motivate people to participate in the forthcoming event. They also directed them to constitute different committees to assist and educate the farmers in this regard, so that maximum farmers can take advantage of this mega event. He said that a special milking competition would also be held during the event besides dancing competition of horses. He said that genetically improved breeds of the buffaloes, cows would also be showcased at this fare. He said that exhibitions would be arranged by PHD chamber of commerce and industries on no-profit, no-loss basis.
Ranike said that the livestock championship aimed to bring awareness among the farmers to improve livestock breed of various cattle head as viable alternatives for diversification of agriculture. He said that state government has taken number of steps to improve the conditions of livestock and cash would be given to the animals who would win in the competition.
Ranike said that Horses, Buffalos, Cows, Sheeps, Goats from various States including Gujrat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab Haryana and Himachal Pradesh would be participating in the competition. The Minister further said that the instructions have been issued to all concerned officials to provide free green fodder for livestock during the fair. He said that free lodging and boarding would also be provided to livestock owners.
Prominent who were present in the meeting included G Vajralingam, Financial Commissioner, Animal Husbandry, Dr. H S Sanda, Director, Animal Husbandry, Inderjit Singh Director, Dairy, B K Sood Director, Fishery and representatives from  PHD chamber of commerce and industries.
