Kapurthala, December 4, 2015: LED bulb distribution under Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) was launched today at Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. Sh.R.P.Nibariya, General Manager of RCF inaugurated this ambitious programme for distribution of LED lights to RCF employees. The energy efficient LED bulbs are provided by M/s Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a Joint Venture of PSUs of Ministry of Power. Replacement of all bulbs in RCF will enable savings of thousands of units of energy each month. Each LED bulb of 7 watt will cost Rs. 100 a piece and carry a warranty of 03 years. Each employee can purchase a maximum of 10 LED Bulbs. This is the first initiative in Punjab under the above programme.
On this occasion Sh. R. P. Nibariya said that energy saving is the need of hour and called for energy conservation through the spread of LED bulbs. He said that it was much more easier to conserve power, than to produce power. LED bulbs have almost 50 times more life expectancy than ordinary bulbs and 8-10 times more than that of CFLs, and therefore provide both energy and cost savings.
He also added that RCF has planned for replacement of 2000 street lights with LED lights in the near future and process of procurement has been initiated . This will enable a huge saving on railway expenditure. RCF Kapurthala is also contemplating for generating energy through Solar Power .
Sh. Dayal Dogra, Chief Electrical Engineer and all Departmental Heads, Officers , Members of Recognised Unions, Employees of RCF were present on this occasion, besides the representatives of M/s. EESL.
Four LED Distribution Centres have been set up in the campus for sale of above energy efficient bulbs to the employees of RCF. Employees have showed a good response to the above initiative by purchasing these bulbs and thus, proving their concern for energy conservation.
Needless to mention that RCF has won many laurels in the field of Eco- Presevation , latest being “ GreenTech Environment Award-2015” in Gold Category at 16th Annual GreenTech Environment & CSR Conference-2015 organised at Hyderabad on 27.11.2015 for outstanding achievements in Environment Management. / (Rajat Kumar, Jalandhar)
