Kamna Pathak aka Rajesh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan

“I do believe in celebrating a noise-free and bright Diwali. The festival of lights is very special to me as my entire family comes together on this occasion. In my childhood, I used to get very excited and join my mother in the kitchen where I used to help her prepare some tasty Diwali snack items right from namkeen food like namak pare, gujiya and mathari to sweet tooth fantasies like besan ke ladoo. I really relish these precious moments a lot. While everything including food is readily available outside, it’s not the same as the one prepared with love at home. Here’s wishing everyone a Happy Diwali!”

Saumya Tandon aka Anita Bhabi ji from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain

“It is my first Diwali with my son, and I am really happy, there’s so much of positivity and good things that this year has brought to my family. We recently moved to a bigger home and I have a lot to be grateful for. This Diwali I pray and earnestly wish for every person to have a shelter above their head. We tend to forget that there’s more to Diwali than crackers, we can celebrate by making sweets, rangolis, lighting diyas, decorating the house with lights, play games, party and most importantly celebrate it with all our dear ones. My childhood memories of this festival were when we all of used to get together and clean every nook and corner of the house. My mom would strictly tell us to get rid of all the stuff that we don’t use only then will we get new things. Since childhood, I have never engaged in bursting firecrackers, these things cause so many problems, this year too I urge people to celebrate this joyus festival minus all the crackers and fireworks. Wishing everyone a very happy and splendid Diwali.”

Ankit Raaj aka Adhiraj From Main Bhi Ardhangini

“Diwali is known as a festival of lights and happiness, and no better way to celebrate this occasion than by having the entire family present to devour in the moments. I usually used to celebrate the festival in Delhi and every year during this time, the festival brings back celebration memories with my mother. She used to make various sweets and I along with my cousins used to enjoy them. I am hoping to give her a pleasant surprise this year. The only thing that I disapprove of this festival is the lighting of fire crackers, because it doesn’t just endanger our environment through air and noise pollution, but it also hurts the life around us; animals, birds and many more. I hope everyone realizes this soon and we can act towards saving our environment. With this thought in mind, this year my Diwali will be full of lights and diyas alongside my family and I wish it’s the same with every other person. I wish everyone a safe and pollution-free Diwali.”

Sarika Bahroliya aka Gudiya from Gudiya Humari Sabhi Pe Bhari

“I have always loved the festival of lights. We often celebrate Diwali with a lot of excitement, our home full of sweets and décor, but I always wonder about people who don’t get to celebrate Diwali with such luxuries. So, this year I wish to make someone else’s Diwali special by celebrating with them the festival lights and happiness. Even on our show Gudiya Humari sabhi Pe Bhari, our message on this season of festivities is to bring a smile on the face of someone who is less fortunate sharing the real joy of Diwali. I am extremely fond of kids and I would really like to celebrate this day with them at an NGO where together we paint a few diyas and light up their own home. This will be my first Diwali away from home, in case we get a longer break from shoots, I plan on making a quick trip to Gwalior and spend time with my family.”

Jia Shankar from Meri Hanikarak Biwi

“Just like every family, I spend Diwali with my mother who is extremely particular about cleanliness. She loves decorating the house and every year purchases a new decorative piece for our home. A lot about this festival is also about indulging in the special Diwali food which otherwise I usually don’t because of my dieting habits. My mom prepares enough food that will not just satisfy my cravings but can also feast the cast and crew of my show, Meri Hanikarak Biwi. I also have a knack for creating Rangoli and I am really looking forward to doing it this year too preferably with oil paints. The past few years have been a celebration with a couple of my close friends on Diwali and this year looks to be the same as well.”

Ankit Bathla from Paramavatar Shri Krishna

Diwali brings in a totally different vibe which illuminates each and every corner in the house with positivity and warmth. As kids and now as adults every year me and my sister look forward to the festival to gorge on some delicious homemade mithai and other goodies that my mother prepares. However busy I get with my shoots, I make it a point to celebrate Diwali back in my hometown Delhi. This year too I have decided to take a break from my shoots in Paramavatar Shri to travel back home. I am double excited to be at home on this festival because my sister who recently got married is visiting us for the festival. Diwali brings back so many memories from childhood and one of them is getting gifts from family members and relatives on the festival. Me and my cousins used to have a ritual of tearing open the gifts right in front the guests and I have continued doing the same ever since.”

Hunar Hale from Paramavatar Shri Krishna

“Diwali is the most splendid festival amongst all the Hindu festivals. While these celebrations may seem fun, their far-reaching consequences are not. I am completely against bursting crackers because of the pollution that it causes and more so the dangers it leads for animals. Every year we decorate our place just like our first Diwali and create different patterns of Rangoli that hold a significant meaning. The most exciting part of this festival is dressing up in brand new clothes and celebrating this festival on a large scale with family gatherings. With several memories to cherish, the one I most recall is of the year before my father passed away. I had locked myself in a room and was reading books to divert my mind from the noise of the crackers. Understanding my mood, my father offered to take me out for a drive and that was the day I witnessed a completely different side to him. It was such a memorable and enriching experience and every time I recall the moment, it reminds me of how tough a person he was yet such soft-hearted person within. Like every Diwali I would like to light one extra Diya in his name”

Shubhangi Atre a.k.a Angoori Bhabhi of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain

“Diwali is the most splendid festival amongst all the Hindu festivals. Apart from being a festival of lights and welcoming new beginnings, I also see it as a festival of sharing happiness. Every year during this festival, I follow a tradition of donating something new to a place. Last year I had taken up the cause of donating new clothes at an NGO for young kids and this year I plan to gift new diyas and clothes at an old age home. I have seen my grandparents gleam in joy when we celebrate Diwali with them and I would like to gift that same joy to another person who probably wishes to celebrate this festival with his kids. Apart from that I would be celebrating this festival with the usual fervour. We have a special celebration on the sets of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai where this time we will take out time for a game of Teen Patti. A few of my family members have also come from Indore and I am really delighted to celebrate Diwali in their presence. My mom is getting some special Indori Diwali delicacies and I really look forward to indulging in that on this festival.”
