Delhi Police to get Rs.5,029 crore

New Delhi, July 10 (IANS) The central government Thursday allocated Rs.5,029.19 crore to Delhi Police for improving training facilities, installation of traffic signals and construction of houses for the force in the current fiscal.

This was an increase of Rs.300 crore from the last fiscal.

For the year 2013-2014, Delhi Police got Rs.4,259.2 crore, of which Rs.28 crore was spent as planned expenditure, while Rs.4,230.71 crore was spent as non-planned expenditure.

The government has allocated Rs.11.5 crore for the installation of traffic signals in the city and Rs.51 lakh for enhancing training facilities for 2014-15.

Over Rs.44 lakh has been allocated for induction of latest technologies in the force.

For developing the traffic and communication network in the national capital region and the model traffic system, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's budget allocated Rs.11.37 crore.

Jaitley's budget also included schemes on integration of distress signals from victims, with mobile vans and control rooms.

A total of Rs.253 crore has been allocated for construction of buildings for police - Rs.81 crore more than in the last fiscal.

The force will get Rs.123 crore for the construction of residential accommodation.
