DEGREES CONFERRED ON 450 STUDENTS AT GNIMT CONVOCATION

Ludhiana, January 24, 2019: Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana organized 8th Convocation on Thursday. (Prof.) Dr.Ajay K.Sharma, Vice Chancellor I.K.G.Punjab Technical University was the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address. Sh.B.K Jha, IRS was the Guest of Honor, Principal Chief Commissioner, Income tax. The Chief Guest & Guest of Honor were received by the Principal Dr.Sandhya Mehta and General Secretary Er.Gurvinder Singh Sarna, Guru Nanak Education Trust, was introduced to all the members of the faculty. The Academic Procession started at 11.30 A.M. and the convocation procedure started after the recital of Shabad “Deh Shiva Var Mohe Ihe.” by the students. Dr.Sandhya Mehta, Principal of the Institute extended a formal welcome to the Chief Guest and introduced him to the audience. The Institute Report was presented by the Principal in which she highlighted various aspects like Admissions, Academic Achievements, Professional Activities and Faculty Development Activities. She highlighted the Academic Achievements mentioning that GNIMT has won 18 Gold Medals, 17 Silver Medals and 20 Bronze Medals. The In-house Faculty Development Programme, interaction with Schools and Soft Skill Development Programmes for the students were also highlighted. The Cultural Achievements like representing PTU in National Intervarsity and 15th International Mediterrarian Youth Festival held at Akedniz University, Antalya (Turkey) were also highlighted. The Chief Guest addressed the students and he exhorted the teachers to provide value based education. He emphasized that the Education is a learning process and it is the Education which can open gateway to opportunities. He congratulated the faculty for value based education given to the students. While congratulating the students on the successful completion of their courses, he remarked that getting a degree was not the end of their goals, but the beginning of a new chapter. Er.Gurvinder Singh, General Secretary of the Guru Nanak Education Trust (Gujarkhan) presented a vote of thanks He assured the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor the audience that the Institute will continue to progress as per the advice given by them. The General Secretary emphasized the need of technical competent manpower as a large number of technical and management posts are lying vacant for want of suitably skilled manpower. He exhorted the students to continue learning more and more about their specialties. The Event culminated by reciting the National Anthem.
