Ludhiana, March 31, 2016: In a major pro people move, the Punjab government’s decision to waive off total registration fee charged for transfer of property between spouses and blood relations in urban & rural areas is proving very beneficial for thousands of such beneficiaries across the state. Similarly, the helpline of Revenue Department, 1800-1800-168, is also proving beneficial. This was informed by District Revenue Officer Mr Mukesh Kumar, here today.

He said that this decision has led to increase in the number of registries as out of total registries, more than 70% are amongst blood relation.
Mr Mukesh Kumar stated that in a bid to bring transparency in the working of revenue department, a helpline number, 1800-1800-168, has also been started which is already showing good results. Started in August 2015, this helpline has brought in transparency in the working of department and is also proving helpful for public. He said that through this helpline, people can get all details and status of any cases which are in process and can also submit their complaints, if any.
He said that any person submitting his complaint at the helpline number is allotted a unique complaint number and the details are provided in a fixed time frame. This helpline remains operational from 7 am to 7 pm throughput India and for NRI’s, its operational 24X7. Mr Mukesh Kumar informed that the submitted complaints are then forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner as well as the concerned SDM’s.
