LUDHIANA, MAY 14, 2018: Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal on Monday appealed the farmers to shun the stubble burning.
Giving the reference of letters issued by Science, Technology and Environment department and chief secretary, Deputy Commissioner said that stubble burning is a violation of the law and it pollutes our environment besides increases the chances of fire mishaps in the periphery areas.
He claimed district administration is making strenuous efforts to curb the practice in the district.
He told that a case will be registered against those who will be found burning the stubble in the fields besides heavy fine against them. He said that Punjab Government is serious about the air pollution due to stubble burning and it would leave no stone unturned to ensure better living conditions for the future generations.
