Fazilka, September 28, 2017: To mark the birth anniversary of Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, the District Administration and Police Department today held mini marathon under title 'Daurta Punjab' with a view to promulgating a strong message against drugs.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Additional Director General of Police Welfare-cum-Armed Mr.Sanjiv Kalra said that this move would go a long way to motivate the youngsters against the drugs. He said that such initiatives were call of the day to sensitise our youth against the ill-effects of drugs.

Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Isha Kalia exhorted the youth to join hands in ongoing moves of state government to eliminate the menace of drugs. She said that youngsters should stay away from drugs and live a healthy life with dignity.

IG Bathinda Zone MS Chhinna, DIG Ferozepur Range Rajinder, Deputy Commissioner Fazilka Isha Kalia, Deputy Commissioner Sri Muktsar Sahib Sumit Jarangal, Bureau of Police Research and Development's SSP Rank officer DS Sandhu, SSP Dr. Ketan Baliram Patil flag off the mini marathon. With a message of peace and goodwill colourful baloons were released in the air. On this occasion youngsters took pledge against drugs.

In this mini marathon more than 3500 boys and girls from the border villages participated. The mini marathon reaches Memorial at Asafwala after covering 12 kilometers way starting from Police Lines passing through DC Complex, Sanjiv Cinema Chowk, Gaushala Road, Shastri Chowk and MR College Road.

In Boys category Vineet Kumar of Abohar remained on First place, Jatinder Singh of Tarn Taran clinched second postion and Rohit of Abohar secured third place while in Girls Seema Devi of Dasuya, Hoshiarpur secured first position, Prabhjot Kaur of Dasuya, Hoshiarpur remained second position and Gurpreet Kaur stood on third position.

Before starting the marathon students of different schools presented Folk Dances of Punjab Giddha and Bhangra whereas students also played Gatkaa.

Renowned Comedian Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi also called upon youth to desist themselves from the harmful effects of drugs.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included CJM Mr. KK Bansal, BSF Commandant Mr. Naresh Kumar and Karan Gilhotra.
