Convocation of CMCL-FAIMER Regional Institute held at CMC

Ludhiana, February 5, 2019: The 14th annual convocation of CMCL (Christian Medical College, Ludhiana)-FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) Regional Institute was conducted at CMC Ludhiana. A total of 14 Fellows were awarded Fellowship Completion certificates at the hands of Dr.Vivek Saoji, Vice Chancellor of KLE University, Belgaum and a FAIMER Fellow himself. He extorted the Fellows to spread this knowledge and skills to their institutions and colleagues so that a critical mass of people is created, who will be the change agents for innovations in medical education.
CMCL-FAIMER Fellowship is a two-year program aimed at improving teaching, assessment, research and leadership skills and was initiated in the year 2006. Dr. William Bhatti, Director, CMC Ludhiana reiterated the commitment of CMC Ludhiana to make medical education socially relevant and produce graduates who are professionally competent. Dr. Tejinder Singh and Dr. Dinesh Badyal, Director and Co-Director of the institute respectively welcomed the Fellows and congratulated them on their achievement.
FAIMER was represented by Ms. Shiyao Yuvan from Philadelphia, USA. She noted with pleasure that many of the past Fellows are working at important positions related to medical education in their respective institutions and are already contributing significantly to advancement of medical education. She said that FAIMER stands for advancement of medical education and research and CMCL-FAIMER Regional Institute is on the right track.
The convocation was preceded by the assembly of 2018 and 2019 Fellows, who presented the outcome of their work in implementing a curriculum innovation project at their home institutions. Dr. Sudhir Babu Padugal from Narketpally, AP won the best poster award for his work on Teaching and assessment of communication skills to undergraduate medical students.
