Commissioner of Police Ludhiana issues various ban orders
Ludhiana, October 19, 2019: Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal, while exercising his powers under section 144 of CrPC 1973 (Act No 2 of 1974) has banned the sale of acid in all areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana, for a period of two months. He said that it has come to his notice that acid is being sold illegally in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana. He said that acid is a dangerous chemical which can cause harm to human beings. He has ordered that no person can sell acid without a proper license, which he would require to renew from time to time. He said that the person selling acid would make sure that he maintains complete record such as identity card, voter card and complete address of the person buying it. He said that acid cannot be sold to any person below 18 years of age. He also said that the seller would maintain proper record of stock in a register and in case of any sale, he would submit the details with area Police Station and SDM. He has ordered that in case of sale of acid to any hospital, industry, government department or some other departments etc, then the shopkeeper selling the acid would be himself responsible for collecting complete details of the head of the organisation to which the acid is being sold. And the organisation buying acid would themselves ensure that acid is stored at a safe place under the supervision of a responsible person, besides all details of stock and use of acid should be maintained in a separate register without fail. The Commissioner of Police has also banned the manufacturing of those registration number plates of vehicles that are not as per the rules. He has ordered that if any shopkeeper/painter manufactures any illegal number plate (which is against the government rules), then strict action would be taken against them. He said that sometimes the registration number written on these plates is not in a proper and clear font, which sometimes becomes difficult for the police to read. In another order, he has also banned the operations of Hookah Bars in all areas under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate Ludhiana. He stated that some Hookah Bars are operating illegally in the city and they are causing serious harm to our residents as the Hookah contains tobacco, harmful chemicals, etc. Keeping in mind the health of city residents, the Commissioner of Police has banned all Hookah bars in the city. Commissioner of Police has also ordered that at least one security personnel should be deputed at each ATM from 8 pm to 6 am in all areas falling under Police Commissionerate Ludhiana. He has banned that ATMs without security personnel would not be opened in this time period. He stated that some criminal elements have tried to break ATMs in towns, villages and cities, which leads to panic in the minds of public. These orders would remain in force for next two months time.
