Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal interacting with a delegation of Gau Raksha Andolan activists led by state BJP Chief Kamal Sharma, who called on him at his official residence in Chandigarh on Wednesday evening.

Chandigarh, March 13, 2013: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today announced to constitute a four member committee under the Chairmanship of former Minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sud to chalk out the modalities for getting the Cow grazing grounds (Gau Charand Bhoomi) across the state identified and evicted from illegal encroachments. 

A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister while interacting with a delegation of Gau Raksha Andolan activists led by state BJP Chief Kamal Sharma, who called on him at his official residence this evening.

During the deliberations with the delegation, the Chief Minister said that the committee to be constituted under Sud would have Advisor to Chief Minister Maheshinder Singh Grewal, former Chairman Punjab Gau Sewa Board Keemti Bhagat and Sunder Dass Dhamija as its members.

Badal informed the delegation that he had already directed the Deputy Commissioners across the state to identify all the lands reserved for Cow Grazing grounds in the Revenue record.  He also informed the delegation that the Committee would be fully authorised to give its recommendations to the State Government for the necessary legal actions to get these properties evicted so that they could be optimally utilised for the purpose of cow grazing.

Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government for the protection and the welfare of the Cows in the state, the Chief Minister said that their government had already taken path breaking initiatives in this direction. He also appealed to Sant Gopal Dass Muni , who was observing indefinite fast for getting the Cow grazing grounds evicted, to end his fast as the state government gave due respect to every emotion/sentiments related to the cow protection.       

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Joint Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sandeep Hans, Shankarya Charya Dev Vati Dandi Swami and Tikshan Sud besides, members of Gau Raksha Andolan.
