Ludhiana, August 5, 2015: Project Friends4Life, initiated by Social Activist Couple Vandna Saxena and Ramit Saxena saw an overwhelming support from Students at Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar. Students were excited to find their “new sibling and friend” in form of a “Sapling”.
Vandna Saxena said that “Friends4Life” is initiated to inculcate the feeling of environment conservation by adopting a Plant as Sibling among Students. These plants will also be treated as friends for life by the students. Interaction with Plants will help also students bring the stress level down.
1000 plants were distributed to the Students today and they’ll will plant them at their homes. Last year also 800 plants were given to students for the similar project and had received a great results are achieved by students.
School Principal Sister Reshmi, extended full support to the project & motivated students for the plantation.
Sacred Heart Convent School, Activity In-charge, Ms. Satwinder Kaur and Ms. Sushmita told students to Take good care of the plants and stressed that they should up bring the plants as their siblings. Students have been told to make a project report of the same and note the plants monthly growth, as well as to take pictures and make a scrap book of the same. They were also motivated to Talk to plants to bring down the stress levels.
Students were seen keen to participate and take the plants. Saplings of Mulberry, Jamun, Kachnar, Cassia siamea, Gulmohar and Bougainvillea were distributed.
Forest Range Officer S. Khushwinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar from Forest Department, were of great help in this project.
With the guidance of Dr. SS Sibia, Dr Keerat Sibia and Dr. Amandeep Singh Bains this project took shape.
Friends4Life will also take up matters of Road Safety, Health and other social projects in the near future.
