CICU urges Punjab Government to expedite formation of Punjab Ground Water Authority

Ludhiana, October 12, 2019: Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana has urged Punjab Government to expedite the formation of Punjab Ground Water Authority.
In a statement here today, Upkar Singh Ahuja, President and Pankaj Shrama, General Secretary, CICU said that Getting NOC for ground water is one of the burning issue in the industry, heavy penalty for the non-compliance (i.e 5000/day after 30.09.2019) is creating panic in industry.
In the latest public notice dated 01.04.2019, last date for applying the NOC has been fixed as 30.09.2019. After that CGWA will impose heavy penalty to the industrial units. It will hamper the production as Industrial units are already in trouble due to poor economic scenario in the Country and new units cannot set up in the State as PPCB clearness cannot be given with Bore well approval.
They said CICU has requested many time through letter/memorandum to Punjab Government to form a Punjab Ground Water Authority and involve industrial members, while setting-up authority for smooth operation of industry.
They also said that a request letter has been sent to Capt.Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister Punjab, Sunder Sham Arora, Minister of Commerce & Industry Punjab regarding formation of Punjab Ground Water Authority.
