Chandigarh, March 4, 2015: Shiromani Akali Dal General Secretary and MP Prof.Prem Singh Chandumajra has demanded the starting of international flights from Chandigarh at the earliest as all the facilities were available. He has also pressed for starting a direct from this city to Nanded Sahib for the convenience of the devotees.

Prof. Chandumajra raised these issues during zero hour in the Lok Sabha today. He stressed that Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib in Nanded was one of the five sacred Takhts of the Sikhs which were visited by thousands of devotees every day from within the country and abroad. It was at Hazoor Sahib, Nanded that Sri Guru Gobind Singh passed on the guruship to Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He breathed his last there.

He pointed out that besides the Sikh devotees from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, the direct flight from Chandigarh would be a big facility to the NRI Punjabis who visit Punjab especially during winters. This flight would be a commercial success. In support of his contention, he referred to the trains running from this region to Nanded Sahib which were booked weeks in advance. He said even the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and other Sikh organisations could guarantee the commercial viability of this flight.
