Dharamsala, December 4, 2014:  The issue regarding setting up the Central University in district Kangra was so much politicised by few in opposition that the fate of this university had been hanging afire since last five years, said Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh, while addressing a massive gathering at Jawalamukhi in district Kangra, on Thursday.

He said that the BJP favored that the University should have two separate campuses one at Dehra and other at Dharamsala and just because of this attitude, the institute was sandwiched between cheap politics. Aiming shots at the opposition, he said that they were playing politics for the heck of it and wanted the major part of the University to be in Hamirpur assembly segment at Dehra as it was a part of it and later opined to have two campuses. He said that he won’t allow two campus of the university at distance apart and above all it was up to the centre government to decide the same.

Virbhadra Singh said that the people, who follow the path of divide and rule, may be termed as politicians but they were not true benefactors of the people. The State Government enjoys good relations with the Government of India and he hoped that the central assistance would keep coming unabated as it was the responsibility of the Centre to assist all the States irrespective of the party in power.

The Chief Minister, on his weeklong visit to attend the winter session of HP Vidhan Sabha which will begin from Friday at Tapovan in Dharamsala, made a day’s halt at Jawalamukhi and performed the foundation stone laying ceremonies of projects worth Rs. 16 crore.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone of additional accommodation of HPPWD rest house at Jawalamukhi to be constructed at a cost of Rs 92 lakhs.  He also laid foundation stone of the Rs 2.50 crore 50 bedded civil hospital, science block of Jawalaji Degree College to cost Rs.5 crore and Rs 7.60 crore Mini Secretariat building at Jawalamukhi.
