Jalandhar, March 4, 2016: In an effort to build a strong foundation based on different teaching practices followed in India and England, Cambridge International Schools, Jalandhar hosted forty four delegates and their team leaders Rachel Morgan, Carl Longmore and Marc Smale from Wolverhampton University, U.K
With an aim to build a global family through enhanced cultural understanding, unity in diversity and cross-cultural education systems, this programme was envisaged by the Cambridge team. This fruitful collaboration with Wolver Hampton since seven years has come a long way as along with creating a strong bonding, a lot of effective teaching learning has also been done.
It was a productive knowledge-sharing experience where the teaching fraternity from Cambridge exchanged ideas with the delegates from England. Effective exchange of demo lessons between Wolverhampton delegates and Cambridge teachers led to a broadening of the horizons of one and all. They initiated their journey by attending the regular school morning assemblies. The demo lessons by Wolverhampton students in subjects like English, Dance, Art, Science, Maths, EVS, Learning Support Needs and sessions with Special Needs Department which involved Story Telling and Money Concept were appreciated immensely. The techniques suggested by them in the field of sports also proved very useful.
A very fruitful interactive session was organised between the Delegates and CIS team in which various important matters like strength and sitting plan, peer checking, Mother Teacher concept, , Differential Teaching ,Lesson planning strategies, child involvement in the development of lesson plans, assessment and evaluation were some of the key components of this dynamic interaction.
The delegates also got a chance to catch glimpses of the way of life in Punjab. Visits to Palahi village, Rainak Bazaar and neighbouring areas gave them an opportunity to experience the very essence and the local colour of Punjab. The visit to rural area gave them an opportunity to witness a soccer match between the rural teams, participate in shooting competition, revel in the women folk dance and tap their feet to the rhythmic beats of gidda. The delegates also had a fun-filled day with students in the sports ground and enjoying games like relay race. They also relished the Punjabi cuisine & savouries and were amazed by the unparalleled hospitality shown by the school community.
The grand finale was the cultural bonanza and a sumptuous party organized for them by the teachers and students of Cambridge. The teachers and students entertained them with varied Indian dance performances like Kathak, Classical, Bhangra and Jugni and pampered them with Nail Art and Mehandi.
To showcase their talent and jubilation the delegation from Wolverhampton gave a dance performance which was an awesome blend of dandiya, bhangra and their dance form. The joy filled faces of the young delegates were enough to make this venture yet another rewarding experience for the Cambridge family.
This visit envisaged by the Chairman Mr. Ajay Bhatia, Deputy Chairman Mr Deepak Bhatia, Executive Director Mr J K Kohli, Director Learning Wings Dr Brijesh and Mr Nitin Kohli, Academic Director Ms Deepa Dogra, Chief Operating officer Mr Stuart Dennis, Principal CIS Phagwara Mr Zorawar Singh, Principal CIS Nawanshahr Ms Sonia Walia, Principal CIS Kapurthala Ms Aarti Dada, Principal CIS Nakodar Ms Ravinder Mahal, Principal CIFS, Jalandhar Ms Meenu Huria, Principal CIS Chotti Baradari, Jalandhar Ms Kiranjoth Dhillon, Vice Principal CISFG, Jalandhar Ms Preeti Sharma clearly highlighted their view that Cambridge is a global community and that under the mentorship of the Learning Wings Education Systems, the Cambridge family will leave no stone unturned to scale greater heights.
