Dharamsala, March 27, 2016: BJP today objected over the casting of vote by Minister Sudhir Sharma, who earlier during the panchayti raj elections casted vote for Rakkar Panchayat of Dharamsala Sub division. The Rakkar has not been included in the newly constituted Dharamsala Municipal Corporation. So the BJP opposed his casting of vote twice.
Minister said, “As my name is there in the voters’ list I polled the vote.”
Mr.Sarvan SDM Dharamsala, who is also the election officer for Corporation elections said, “The electoral roll of MC Dharamsala was made de-novo as it was first election of Corporation. The electoral roll was prepared using the data of Election Commission of India for assembly election. These booth wise voter lists were divided into wards after field verification through the authorised officers. Three stage objections were called/invited against any entry or error and the objections were disposed of and voter list finalised.”
He said that after finalization of voter an entry of a candidate in the voter list allows any person to vote without going into the merits of the entry that how this entry was done as the above mentioned process is done before finalising the voter list.
Meaning thereby any person having name in the electoral roll can vote and it is immaterial that whether his name is also appearing somewhere else or not.
