Ludhiana, November 27, 2017: Addressing the mammoth rally of Kisans, khet mazdoors, NREGA workers, women, youth and students, middle classes, intellectuals , CPI General Secretary S.Sudhakar Reddy said that the country is passing through a very critical phase. RSS Controlled Narendra Modi government is bent upon to destroy everything that we achieved since independence. It is mortgaging the country’s freedom and economy to the imperialist forces represented by the multinationals and tools of International Finance Capital like IMF- World Band and World Trade Organisation.
Modi Government is in a hurry to finish the implementation of anti-people agenda of Neo-liberalism. All the public assets and natural resource are being handed over to the capitalist classes, particularly the selected corporate houses. Virtually the country’s economy is being run by the duo of Ambanis and Advanis. Price-rise has become unbearable, unemployment is growing, educational institutions are in turmoil. People are on the streets fighting the pro-corporate and anti-people policies of this government.
Sudhakar Reddy also criticized the shift in the foreign policy. He said that the government is surrendering to the whims of the US Imperialists and collaborating with imperialist tools like Japan.
He explained the concept of Secular-Democratic- Left Platform and said that the fascistic threat requires widest possible unity of all anti-fascist forces. This platform is required to foil the attempts of the Modi government to destroy the secular-democratic fabric of our society and constitution. (Due to sudden breakdown of health, Com. Sudhakar personally could not come, therefore, his speech/ message was read by Com. Shameem Faizee.)
CPI National Council secretary Amarjeet Kaur recalled the “Mahapadav” by the working class on the streets of Delhi and five days Dharna on Parliament by peasantry in the National capital. She also referred to the turmoils in the universities and other higher educational institution and observed that all segments of the people are coming out on the streets to fight the anti-people policies of the Modi government.
She particularly referred to the growing attacks on minorities, Dalits and women. She said the Sangh Parivar is ideologically against these sections of our people and work to hasten the communal and caste polarization.
Com. Atul Kumar Anjan, General Secretary AIKS, strongly criticised the anti-kisan policy of Modi led NDA Govt. He said that Modi and BJP had promised to implement Swaminathan Commission recommendations just to get votes of peasants. Fact is that while Modi was CM of Gujarat, he was asking for Rate of 7500 rupees per quintal of groundnut, where as today, when he is PM of the country, the ground nut producers are getting only Rs 4500 per quintal only. Similar is condition of potato producers.
Com. Shameem Faizee, CPI National Council secretary and incharge of Punjab CPI, congratulated the state party and workers for organising the magnificent rally.
The Rally was held under presidium comprising Comrades Baldev Singh (AIKS), Amarjit Aasal (AITUC), Santokh Singh (BKMU), Rajinderpal Kaur (NFIW), Sukhjinder Maheshwari (Youth Students) and Kartar Bowani (Ludhiana). On stage were seated whole State Executive of Punjab CPI and State Sectt and national leaders.
Com. Hardev Singh Arshi, Secretary Punjab CPI, while welcoming the participants from all corners of state and central leaders, said that the rally will prove to be launching pad of new struggles and build confidence to fight and defeat dark forces and inspire progress of class forces of social progress. He strongly criticized the Captain Government of Punjab for not implementing even a single promise made in elections. Even in short period of 8 months the people has got disillusioned from it. In place of giving employment, it is going on the way to snatch earlier jobs, as the case of Thermal Plant and Anganwari workers show. Punjab people would not tolerate it and their struggles will force the government to fulfil the promises.
Dr. Joginder Dayal, NE member, said that Punjab is in grip of fiscal, economic, social and political crisis. State is under 1.08 lakh crore debts. Centre did not give special economic package. Law and order situation is deteriorating. PCOCA is not the answer to it, on the other hand it will be used against democratic movements. Mafias are as active as were in previous regime. There is nexus of unscrupulous politicians, bureaucrats and mafia gangs. People will have to struggle unitedly for getting liberated of mafia rule and for fulfilment of demands.
Com. Jagroop Singh, member National Council, Com. Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary of Punjab AITUC, Com. Gurnam Kanwar, member state Secretariat of CPI, and Com Gulzar Goria, Deputy General Secretary of BKMU, also addressed the rally and stressed the need for united determined struggle for mobilisation of masses for employment act, safeguarding the interests of Khet Mazdoors and Narega and Building workers and for protection and flourishment of Punjabi Language. Com. Bhupinder Samber, moved the vote of thanks and demanded waving of loans of Kisans and Khet Mazdoors
The Rally gave clarion call to deepen, broaden and strengthen the struggle against communalism, corruption, unemployment, price rise, neo-economic policies, GST. Demonetisation and against atrocities on marginalised sections like minorities, dalits, women, tribals and other weaker sections and for progress towards social justice and end of exploitation of man by man.
A large chunk of participants were khet mazdoors, building and NAREGA workers, women and youth. The entire ground had turned into an ocean of red waves and sky echoing slogans of Inqlab Zindabad and CPI Zindabad.
