IN A BIG RELIEF TO POOR IN LUDHIANA MUNICIPAL AREA, COMPOSITION FEE OF REHRI/FARHI SLASHED BY HALF

Ludhiana, September 6, 2018: While providing a big relief to the poor, the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana has slashed the composition fee for rehri and farhi owners. Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu informed that a meeting in this regard was held at Mayor Camp Office, here today evening.

Mayor Mr Sandhu informed that the composition fee for rehri with roof has been slashed from existing Rs 3,000 to Rs 1600, composition fee for table has been reduced from existing Rs 1,000 to Rs 500, composition fee for rehri without roof has been slashed from existing Rs 1,600 to Rs 800, composition fee for tempo/chhota hathi has been slashed from existing Rs 5,000 to Rs 2,500, composition fee for bigger vehicle/TATA has been slashed from existing Rs 15,000 to Rs 10,000 and the composition fee for one chair (barber/cobbler) has been slashed from Rs 1,000 to nil.

Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu informed that these rates would continue till the time Street Vending Policy is implemented and once the policy is implemented, new rates would be announced. He said that if any of the rehri/tempo/chhota hathi/bigger vehicle/TATA/chair/table creates any traffic hazard, then the Tehbazaari wing would impose old rates only.

He said that the Congress-led Punjab government is committed for the welfare of poor and weaker sections of the society. He said that from time to time, the Rehri/Farhi owners had met MP Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Punjab Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLAs Mr Rakesh Pandey, Mr Sanjay Talwar, Mr Surinder Dawar and others regarding this issue. He said that the matter was discussed in detail, after which it was decided to slash the composition fee of rehri/farhi.

The Mayor has appealed to the Rehri/Farhi owners to operate in such a manner that it does not create any traffic hazard.

Those who attended the meeting today included MC Joint Commissioner Mr Kulpreet Singh, Councillors Mr Sunny Bhalla, Mrs Sunita Rani, Mr Jaspal Singh, Mrs Manisha Taparia, Mrs Jaspreet Kaur Thukral, Mr Maharaj Singh Raji, Mr Gagandeep, Mr Gurmail Singh, Mr Baljinder Singh Bunty, Labour Welfare Officer Mr Harpal Singh Nimana, Superintendent Mr Abdul Sattar, besides several others.
