Jalandhar, September 19, 2015: It is a matter of pride for India that we are leading ahead in development of technology based equipment. India is at number two, after China in the development of telecommunication technology. There was a time that people used to run towards their houses for receiving a phone call; now the time has come when people have to move out of their houses to take call for better signal. Besides providing basic telecom services developments in telecommunication industry have brought a diverse set of services like entertainment to business, education to sports to the people. Efforts are on to bring more ease of use of technology so that technology may reach to the maximum. The future is brighter and comfortable. These were the views expressed by Sr. General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Mr. S.K. Nigam. He was Chief Guest in Punjab Institute of Technology Kapurthala situated in I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University. He told the students about the history of telecommunications, its present positioning and the challenges of future before it.
Additional General Manager BSNL Ravinder Kumar was also present on this occasion as special guest & handled a lot many queries of students who are pursiong technical courses on the campus.
In his welcome speech, Dean(RIC) & Director PIT Dr. Anirudh Pratap Singh said that advanced technological development is the only way to become a developed country & for that we should try to mitigate our dependence on other countries & must establish our own Research & Development centers to give a boost to the indigenously developed technology. While paying tribute to M.Visvesvaraya on the occassion of Engineer';s Day he encouraged the students to achieve their goals by giving example of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
Vote of thanks was presented by Administrative head PITK cum Head, Life Sciences and Technology, Dr. Rajneesh Kant Sachdev and stage was conducted by Saurabh Sharma (Assistant Registrar). An interactive session was also organized among the students & industry experts. On this occasion Director PIM Dr. Harmeen Soch was also present.
