Ludhiana, May 5, 2016: The monthly training camp of Progressive Beekeepers Association (PBKA) was organized at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) under the aegis of the Directorate of Extension Education. As many as 136 beekeepers attended the camp.
Dr T.S.Riar, Coordinator, PBKA said the PAU experts educated the participants about the storage of honey bee combs during off-season and value addition to honey with focus on processing and machinery. Besides, beekeepers were acquainted with various schemes, being offered by the PAU Department of Extension Education, he told. In addition, experts highlighted the role of APEDA in honey processing and gave useful tips for honey marketing by Markfed, he informed.
The resource persons included Dr J.S. Bhalla, Head, Department of Extension Education; Dr Jaspal Singh, an entomology expert; Dr M.S. Alam, an expert of processing and food engineering; and Dr B.M. Sharma, Executive Director, Markfed.
