Chandigarh, July 14, 2013: The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today assailed the Congress led UPA government for yet another hike of  Rs.1.55 paise per litre in the petrol price and described it as ‘an absolutely irrational, anti-poor and a retrograde step’, which would further invoke inflationary trend in the economy.

In a statement, Badal took the UPA Government to the task for having given free hand the country’s oil companies to hike the rates of the petroleum products as and when they deem it fit, by doing so they were arbitrarily increasing these rates frequently and making the plight of common man from sad to worse. This hike in the price of petrol with in a period of little over one month spoke volumes UPA government’s complete insensitivity towards  the welfare of the  common man, which in their parlance ‘Aam Adami’ was now its least priority. He cautioned the Congress government to desist from such anti- people stance, that has unmasked its real face adding he said the countrymen, by and large were fed with autocratic style of congress party’s functioning and anxiously waiting for an appropriate opportunity to teach them a befitting lesson thereby showing them a door forever in the next Lok Sabha polls.
