An induction progarmme is being held at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar on Friday.

Jalandhar, July 10, 2015: Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised an Induction Programme on Friday for the new entrants to the different courses in the diverse streams in the college for the new session.  
The programme started with the explanation of the abbreviation APJ in the college's name which stands for Amichand Pyare Lal, Jalandhar, the name of the father of the founder Chairman, Dr. Stya Paul.  The students were familiarised with the code of conduct, the different do's and don’t's as well as the unique opportunities that were available only in this College.  The students were also addressed by two resource persons one from the academia Dr. Suresh K Chadha, Professor, International Business and Marketing, University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and the other from industry Mr. Manpreet Singh Dhodhy, Regional Manager, Tommy Hilfiger and Arvind Fashion Pvt. Ltd. Speaking first, Mr. Manpreet Singh motivated the students to have their personal mission and vision. He said that success has its seed in the brain of the person and from that seed can originate a million dollar empire. He gave tips on how to have a road map of one's personal goals in life.  He showed documentaries to thrust home his point.  He first showed a video clipping of an eagle which lives up to the long age of 70 years after undergoing a process of regrowth and change in its 40s to survive and live that long.  He urged the students to never give up and gave the examples of famous personalities like Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep, Beethoven, Oprah Winfrey, Walt Disney, Thomas Edison, Michael Jordan, Abraham Lincoln etc. who all had to face failures before achieving the success that they are identified with.   Dr. Chadha stressed on the importance of good values, discipline, spiritual quotient, problem solving skills, relationship skills, emotional skills etc. to succeed in life.  He asked the students to come out their comfort zones and learn to think out-of-the-box.   He also asked the students to capitalize on the fact that their parents were paying for the education instead of being complacent.  He urged the teachers to bring a change in the pedagogy and mould it according to the need of the hour. Dr. Sucharita said that Induction Programme was an eye opener for the new students as it brought into focus the requirements for employability and success in the professional arena in the present and the coming times.   She said that the College was committed to increasing the skill component of the various courses and the entire year would be dedicated to this effort.
