ANNUAL NSO COACHING CAMP CONCLUDES AT PAU

Ludhiana, July 5, 2018: A 15-day Annual National Sports Organization (NSO) Coaching Camp concluded at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. A total of 256 NSO trainees attended the camp that was specifically organized for the students of the constituent colleges of PAU, enrolled under the NSO programme which is a part of their academic programme. Along with the physical fitness, training for various games including Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Cycling, Shooting, Hockey, Volleyball, Handball, Table Tennis, Swimming and Weight Lifting was conducted in the camp. To measure the impact of 15 days physical training, a Cross Country Race was conducted in both Men and Women category. A special seminar on health issues was also organized during the camp.

Dr (Mrs) Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU, who was the Chief Guest at the valedictory function, stressed the need for balanced approach in academic, sports and cultural activities. She observed that such types of camps hone the talent of the youth in sports as well as develop their personality. She said “An individual can contribute to the society in an efficient manner by participating in sports activities.” She lauded the students for attending the camp successfully and congratulated the winners.

Dr Sukhbir Singh, Assistant Director, Physical Education, welcomed the guests and the dignitaries. The winners of the Cross Country Race were honoured with the medals and mementos. The Best Camper Award in Men and Women Category was given to Akashveer Singh Grewal, a student of College of Agriculture and Navjot Kaur, a student of College of Home Science, respectively.
