Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association Ludhiana To Honour Veer Naris

Ludhiana, September 30, 2018: Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association Ludhiana (SCWAL) is organizing a function in Rotary Bhawan, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana at 10.30 A.M on 2nd October, 2018 to celebrate International Senior Citizens Day. This Day is being celebrated to recognize the services of elders to the society during active days of their lives; to focus attention on the pproblems they are facing in their old age and to create awareness in the society so that they can live a life of dignity and security. This is as mandated by United Nations Organization. While giving this information, S P Karkara IAS (Retd.), President of Senior Citizens” Welfare Association Ludhiana and Federation of Senior Citizens’ Associations Punjab said that in view of increasing incidents of neglect of elders by their children a special talk on The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007 will be delivered by Dr Neelam Batra, Assistant Professor of Law. Punjab University and Padam Bhushan Dr Sardara Singh Johal, Chancellor Central University Bathinda will speak on harmonizing relations between generations. A special feature this year will be honouring of VEER NARIS i.e. widows of soldiers of our Armed Forces who have attained martyrdom in the defence of the country. This is to show our solidarity with and support to our Armed Forces. Appropriately Brig. Manish Arora, Station Commander, Ludhiana will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Er Balbir Singh, Chairman of Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association Ludhiana informed that delegates from about twenty senior citizen and pensioner organizations and other NGOs from all over Ludhiana District are expected to attend the event.
