Anganwari workers hold protest at Ferozepur

Ferozepur, December 1, 2015: Hundreds of Anganwari workers protested in front of District Administrative Complex today and raised anti-government slogans. Following the call made by Anganwari Employees Federation of India, hundreds of these anganwari workers from all over the district had come to join the protest. Harbinder Kaur, State President of the federation said that more than 28 lakh anganwari workers are working under ICDS Scheme for the last 40 years but getting nothing in return. The union leader demanded that centre and state government should appoint anganwari workers as permanent government employees and decent salaries should be paid to them. The union leaders demanded that until the decision is made, the anganwari workers should be paid at least twenty thousand per month. They also demanded that Rs.10,000 each should be paid to the anganwari helper.
The members of anganwari union handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda. Later the agitated anganwari workers burnt the effigies of State Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi outside the District Administrative Complex.
On this occasion Sheela Devi, Kuldip Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur, Parkash Kaur, Kanta Rani, Prem Kumari, Mango Devi and hundreds of other anganwari workers were present.
