Chandigarh, November 9, 2014: The Punjab government has approved a major initiative to upgrade of plant and machinery of Punjab Roadways and PUNBUS during the current financial year.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Punjab Government said here today that an amount of Rs. 4 Crores has been set aside for up gradation of plant and machinery during the current financial year 2014-15 and remaining plant and machinery is proposed to be purchased in 2015-16 with another capital outlay of Rs. 4 Crores. The present plant and machinery in workshops of Punjab Roadways and PUNBUS is quite old and is in urgent need of up gradation as new buses have been inducted in fleet of PUNBUS.
He said that the plant and machinery to be installed in the workshops of Punjab Roadways/ PUNBUS Automatic Car Washer and Mechanical/manual Car Washer, Digital Tyre Inflator, MIG Welding plant and Electric Welding plant, Smoke Meter, FIP Digital Calibration/phasing Machine ,Water Treatment Plant, Hydraulic/Pneumatic Wheel Tyre Dismantling and Assembling Machine, Pneumatic Wheel Bolt Tightening/Slackening Machine, Automatic Pneumatic greasing Plant, Boring/Honing Machine, Crank Shaft grinding Machine, Latest Lathe Machine, Hydraulic Press, Growler-Armature Testing Machine ,Battery Charger, Air Compressor (Big and Small),Industrial Vacuum Cleaner, Drilling Machine, Bench Grinder, Tyre Puncture Machine ,Special Tools for each Model ,Wheel Alignment Machine, Gear Box & Differential trolley, Jib Crane, Rolling Stretcher, Are Welding Single Phase, Recovery Van and Chopping Saw Cutter.
He said that the workshop building & flooring are also proposed to be upgrade with capital expenditure of Rs. 1.5 Crore.
The spokesman further said that 243 Bharat Stage III Buses have been introduced in PUNBUS in 2012-13 and 305 more buses are under induction in 2014-15. A proposal for up gradation of plant and machinery in workshops of PUNBUS and Punjab Roadways has been initiated and 18 depots of PUNBUS have been asked to submit list of plant and machinery required in their depots. This list of plant and machinery has been finalized by a committee of technical officers of the department.
