Chandigarh, June 17, 2014: Sharnjit Singh Dhillon, Irrigation Minister has set June 30 as deadline for the officers of the department to complete all the ongoing anti flood project and to chalk out new projects for checking the menace of water logging.

Dhillon on Monday asked the Chief Engineers to repair all sensitive points of Dhussi bandh, canals and other such places before scheduled time. He instructed the officials to personally supervise the development work to ensure quality and time bound completion of works. He also said that there should be no compromise with the quality of work otherwise concerned officials would be held responsible for any mishap.

Minister laid emphasis on the new projects for eradication of water logging and said that now with the NDA government at the center these kinds of projects could be got approved with ease. He asked the officers that the projects must be based of ground realities and actual demands of the areas. He said that the Irrigation department would ensure the timely approval of these projects from the centre.

Dhillon said comprehensive plan is being worked out to clear water logging in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Faridkot and Abohar areas. Balwinder Singh Multani, Secretary, Irrigation, Government of Punjab and all Chief Engineers of Irrigation department, Punjab were also present in the meeting.
