World heart day being observed at CHC Bara Pind (Phagwara).

Phagwara, September 30, 2014: To create awareness regarding the prevention of heart diseases, Community Health Centre, Bara Pind, observed the World Heart Day under guidance of Senior Medical Officer Dr Balwinder Singh Kahlon at Senior Secondary School (Boys), Bara Pind on Monday.  This year the day is celebrated under the theme of ‘Heart Choices Not Hard Choices’.
Addressing the students, Dr Seema Rajan, Homeopathic Medical Officer, said that cardiovascular diseases are becoming major causes of deaths in the world and around 17.3 million deaths occur every year due to this reason only. She added that by regulating diet, increasing physical activity, no use of tobacco could substantially bring down the chances of heart diseases.
Speaking in context of Punjab, Dr Seema said that especially the consumption of high fat diet in state is leading to large number of cardiovascular disease cases, while the physical activity had gone down.  She added that stress was also becoming cause of cardiovascular diseases in the youth. Block Extension Educator Preetinder Singh suggested low intake of fat after age of 40 and increasing the physical activity. School lecture Hardeep Singh advised the students to take parts in games regularly to stay fit.
