Jalandhar, September 30, 2012: BJP senior leader Lal Krishan Advani has said the Hind Samachar Group has always stood with the nation even at the time of natural disasters.

Addressing the Shaheed Parivar Fund function organised by the group here today, he added the group’s Editor-in-chief Padamshree Vijay Kumar Chopra has always come forward for giving relief in shape of financial assistance to the affected families even the terrorist affected families.

Adding, Advani said the Shaheed Parivar Fund function is a platform where all the political leaders irrespective of their parties share dais despite the fact that they have difference of opinions.

Advani lauded the group for sincere efforts to fulfill its commitments in the field of social service .He said he is attending the Shaheed Parivar Fund function for the third time and feels that this is the real service to the suffering society. He added this group has contributed a lot since 1983 towards social field after losing their two family members Lala Jagat Narain and Romesh Chander who were gunned downed by extremists.

Advani was chief guest at the function.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni said the government is taking effective steps to curb terrorism and Naxalism occurring in various states.

Among others, the group’s Joint editor Avinash Chopra and Amit Chopra were also present.

On the occasion, Rs. 32 lakh were distributed to 128 militancy affected families.

Before the start of the function, 327th truck loaded with house-hold items for 300 terror affected families for Jammu and Kashmir was also dispatched.

Others present on the occasion included Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni, BJP National Vice President and In charge Punjab Affairs Shanta Kumar, BJP National Secretary Navjot Singh Sidhu, CPI (M) National secretary Vijay Mishra, CPI leader Dr Joginder Dyal and former CM Haryana Om Parkash Chautala.
