Ferozepur, August 20, 2014: To boost the vocation of Bee Keeping among farmers, a District level Training Seminar was organised by the Ferozepur administration with a joint effort from Agriculture and Horticulture Departments along with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). Experts from the field of bee keeping provided valuable information to the people who were keen to take up this occupation as career. They were also given the information about the income aspect and subsidy given by the government.
Deputy Commissioner, DPS Kharbanda said the administration has prepared a blue print to encourage bee keeping in association with KVK, Agriculture and Horticulture Departments. He said five days training will be provided to those who are interested in this profession. He said the administration is not only trying to make arrangements for loan through various banks for them but will also guide them in selling their produce, so that they do not have to face any problem later.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a loan of Rs.2 lakh will be provided to the farmers for one unit of fifty boxes and a subsidy of Rs.80,000 will be given on the loan. He said that a bee-keeper can earn Rs. 40-80,000 per year with one unit. He said the demand of pure honey has increased in recent times.
Some successful bee-farmers shared their views with the audience on this occasion and urged other to avail the benefits of this scheme.
