Chandigarh, April 19, 2014: The Deputy Election Commissioner of India Dr Alok Shukla would review the Election preparedness in Punjab tomorrow i.e April 20 in Ludhiana.
Disclosing this here today, Supreet Singh Gulati, Additional CEO said that Dr Shukla would preside over a meeting tomorrow at 11 am to review the every aspect of comprehensive election arrangements being made in Punjab.
Interacting with media persons, Gulati informed that paramilitary forces have been deployed at all 39 inter-state entries adjoining Information Collection Centers to check any flow of money, drug or illicit liquor. He said that at present 35 companies of PMFs have been already put on election related duties and 147 more companies were expected to report in the state by April 26.
He said that 11 cases of Model Code of Conduct violations have been reported to ECI. Besides this, 76 FIRs have been registered for putting posters or hoardings without permission. He said that till date 2592 FIRs have already been registered out of which 2260 by Punjab Police and 166 each by Static Surveillance Teams and Flying Squads.
He said that till date the SSTs have seized Rs.1.29 crore and referred Rs.5.73 crore to Income Tax Department. Similarly, Punjab Police and Flying Squads have seized Rs.40 lakh and Rs.6.70 crore respectively besides referring Rs.1.40 crore and Rs.85 lakh respectively to Income Tax Department. He informed that total 4668 liters of illicit liquor and 207.5 Kgs of Poppy Husk has been recovered in last one day.
