AAP RTI wing organised interactive session

Ludhiana, November 2, 2016: Right to Information (RTI) wing of Aam Aadmi party, Ludhiana today organised its first meeting cum interactive session with members of civil society and with its volunteers. The main objective of the meet was to set up an organization for RTI in Ludhiana Zone along with organizing interactive session with various RTI volunteers and experts. Speaking on this occasion, Amrit Pal Singh, Joint Secretary, RTI wing, AAP said that RTI came into vogue only after the pressure from members of civil society. Hence, it is of paramount importance to maintain and exert pressure from members of society to ensure the "checks and balance" system of constitution.

Col. Darshan Singh Dhillon, Zone Co-ordination RTI, Ludhiana gave the brief introduction about RTI act and discussed procedures to extract information from various government departments, boards and corporations. He also shared the information with the members of the wing extracted from various government departments and corporations. Col. Dhillon said that they had already filed more than 200 RTIs to have information from various departments.

Mr. Pradeep Jaswal, an RTI volunteer, highlighted the dos and don’ts while applying for RTI and methods and procedures till the last disposal of information.

Expanding the organizational base of the wing, Dr. Pradeep Jaswal, Mr. Anil Ahuja, Mr . Pankaj Saxena were appointed sector co-ordinaries, Adv. Gagandeep Singh as Legal Advisor and Brigadier T.S. Thind as Chief Co-ordinator of the RTI wing in Ludhiana.
