96 crore online payments in first quarter – DC Kapaurthala

Kapurthala, August 12, 2013: The computerisation of entire treasury offices in Punjab ensuring all Government Payments online proved a grand success with  Punjab becoming first successful state in the country to disburse more than Rs. 7281 crore to more than 14 lakh beneficiaries in first quarter by online system. 

Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala Daljit Singh Mangat said that crediting online payments was successfully running in the District. He said that through this recently implemented system of online payments to various departments, authorities besides salaries of government officials/employees, Kapurthala district have credited Rs. 96 crore 4 lacs and 26509 in a short span of three months.

He said that Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) has been monitoring the system of online payments from its inception on 1st April, 2013. He said that all government payments from 1st April, 2013 were being deposited directly in the bank accounts of concerned departments and authorities. He added that in Kapurthala district 37753 people were directly benefitted with this scheme.

He said that in Kapurthala Treasury total amount disbursed is Rs. 71 Crore 30 lac 44012 and number of beneficiaries are 26734. Similarly in Phagwara Treasury total amount disbursed is Rs. 14 Crore 89 lac 26715 and number of beneficiaries are 5833. In Sultanpur Treasury total amount disbursed is Rs. 9 Crore 84 lac 55782 and number of beneficiaries are 5186.

He further said that E-Payment system was implemented in all Government Offices/Departments, whose transactions were done through treasury offices. He added that from July 1, 2013 Punjab has set a new milestone by starting the whole work online, which would prove to be a major step to ensure paperless administration in releasing funds to various departments in the entire state. He said that no physical files would be required to be submitted now.
