360 Units Blood Donated at GNE College

Ludhiana, October 5, 2012: A volunteer blood donation camp was organised by NSS Unit of GNE College in coordination with Salaam Zindagi Foundation in the premises of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana today wherein 360 units of blood were collected.

The team of Civil Hospital lead by Dr. Harinder Attri, Christian Medical College Blood bank Team and Deep Hospital Blood Bank Team participated to make the camp successful.

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. M.S. Saini, Director of GNDEC, Ludhiana.

Dr. MS Saini said that such kinds of activities are regularly organised in their institute for the welfare and service of society and appreciated the work of NGO Salaam Zindagi Foundation. He further said that GNDEC would organise two blood donation camps in a year so that students would be encouraged towards their social liabilities.

Dr. Raju Singh Chenna, Medical Superintendent, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital was chief guest on this occasion. He appreciated disciplined work for the smooth conduct of this camp. He was surprised to see the enthusiasm among the students of GNDEC specially girl students, who donated more than 140 units of blood with their willing and eager participation.

NSS Programme Officers of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Pankaj Bhambri and Arvind Dhingra, of the institute thanked the donors for their actively participation and suggested them to donate blood regularly so as to avoid hypertension, sugar, blood pressure and cardiac like diseases.

Dr. Y.S. Brar, Dean Student Welfare, Deepinder Singh and Manjot Kaur from GNE College and Anurag Kalhan, Mandeep Rawat, V.K. Bhanot, Kewal Malhotra, Balkar Singh, Sandeep Surjan, Arun Ajjain, Atul, Kulwinder and Vinay Goyal were among those present.
