2019-20 Budget a ‘surgical strike’ on poverty: Tarun Chugh
Chandigarh: Terming the Interim Union Budget presented by Union Minister Piyush Goyal as ‘surgical strike’ on poverty, Tarun Chugh, national secretary of the BJP today said the visionary and progressive proposals would benefit the people of the country and also speed up the economic growth of the country. Chugh said the budget proposals intend to provide relief to the farmers, the poor, dalits, backward classes, middle class and other sections of the society. “With this budget, the Modi government has reiterated its resolve of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ to take along all for the development and prosperity of the country,” he said. Welcoming the decision to enhance the Income Tax limit from Rs.2.5 lacs to Rs. 5 lacs, the BJP leader said this was bound to benefit the middle class hugely. Terming the proposal to deposit Rs.6,000 into the bank accounts of marginal and border area farmers as historic, Chugh said the government by making a provision of Rs.75,000 crore for this initiative and to implement it from 1st of December 2018 has given a clear indication that its intentions to provide relief to the small peasantry were pure and practical. Chugh said the budgetary proposal to give 1.5 times price against their cost and to provide free medical facilities upto Rs.5 lakh to nearly 50 crore people i.e. 10 crore families would go a long way to improve the fiscal and physical health of a large section of the population. “The people of the country would also appreciate the plan to build 2 crore houses in rural and urban areas and to provide 8 crore gas connections to the poorest of the poor,” he said. The BJP leader said the government means business and the budget proposals would be implemented in their true letter and spirit like the four earlier budgets presented as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
