Chandigarh, April 9, 2015: As many as 119 officers/officials of different departments posted in Punjab Civil Secretariat were found absent during a surprise check conducted by a high powered team of Punjab Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal today at 9.15 am.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the government said that maximum number of 43 officers/ officials were found absent in the Revenue department, 32 in Home, and 19 from Information and Public Relations department, 9 from Finance,6 from Excise and Taxation, 4 from Jails besides 2 each from Personnel, Pensions, Parliamentary Affairs were found absent.
Taking serious note of the absenteeism in the government offices, Kaushal has issued strict directive to the Administrative Secretaries of each department to ensure disciplined work culture amongst the employees and also seeking explanation from erring officers/ officials.
